General Competition Rules for all LDRGA Competitions
General competition rules for all LDRGA competitions
- Players in all LDRGA competitions must be over 18 years of age, be a member of a club affiliated to the LDRGA and have a competitive CONGU competition handicap (designated by the letter C after their handicap) of 16 or greater up to a maximum of 28 (players holding a handicap greater than 28 are eligible to play, but must play off 28 handicap).
- A player may only represent their “HOME” club (ie the club that administers that players handicap) in any LDRGA competition.
- Prior to starting play in any LDRGA competition (whether that be the Taylor trophy, 2 man league, individual match play or any Sunday competitions) all players must provide a certificate showing a competitive CONGU handicap (as defined in rule 1 of the LDRGA general competition rules) issued by their home club and DATED WITHIN 21 DAYS of the competition. If an electronic device is used as proof showing the players handicap, it must clearly show a competitive CONGU handicap. All players who intend to use an electronic device as proof of handicap must make sure they have it ready to show before registering, especially at Sunday competitions.
- For ALL LDRGA competitions it is EQUAL RESPONSIBILITY of both clubs/players to contact their opponents.
- 2 man league fixtures WILL be played over a 2 week period. Both clubs/players have equal responsibility to make contact with their opponents (as stated in rule 4, LDRGA general competition rules) and arrange both the home and away fixtures within the 2 week period. The results of BOTH matches must be reported on or before the closing date for that round of matches. (Refer to rule 8, LDRGA general competition rules).Taylor trophy matches (refer to rule 4, LDRGA general competition rules)
- The home club/players should arrange courtesy of the course and hospitality after the fixture. If the away club/players do not intend to stay after the match for hospitality then they should notify the home club at least 24 hours prior to the fixture.
- Providing EITHER club has made or tried to make contact with their opponents in accordance with rule 4 (LDRGA general competition rules) and no date or time can be agreed for the fixture then the relevant club MUST contact the competition or section organiser at the earliest opportunity to allow adequate time for the competition organiser to try and rectify any issues. If no contact can be made with the opponents and the club/players can prove that they have made adequate attempts to contact their opponents either by email or text (phone calls will not be considered) then the result will be a WIN for that club and they will progress to the next round or a 5 & 4 win in the 2 man league. If neither club makes contact with each other and the fixture is not fulfilled then both clubs/players WILL be disqualified (0 points in 2 man league).
- Where inter-club competition results are required to be reported, this MUST only be done by email (results@ldrga.co.uk) or text message to the nominated LDRGA official. Results MUST NOT be reported by telephone (this excludes the Ken Dodgson Individual Matchplay, where results must be telephoned to the section organiser). The report MUST include the name of the player/players reporting the result, which club was home and away, the competition and the EXACT result. It is the responsibility of both clubs/players to report any competition results whether that be a win, loss or draw. If only one club reports the result then that result will be deemed correct. Results MUST be reported on or before the closing date for that round of matches. If no result is received by the closing date of that round of matches then it will be assumed that the fixture has not been fulfilled and BOTH clubs/players will be disqualified or 0 points in 2 man league.
- Any appeals against any decisions or results made by the LDRGA rules committee must be made in writing with all mitigating circumstances within 72 hours of the decision been made, No appeals will be considered after this time and the LDRGA rules committee decision will be final.
- If a club knows in advance that they will be unable to field a player or players for any one-day competition, either LDRGA or YRGA, the club MUST notify the relevant official responsible for the competition at the earliest opportunity to allow for rescheduling of the order of play.
- If a match is started but can not be finished for any reason (ie dangerous weather conditions, darkness etc) the match MUST be continued by the same players from the point it was interrupted as soon as possible.
- ALL scorecards which are submitted in LDRGA competitions, whether that be individual or better ball and which possibly warrant a reduction in a player/players handicap will be returned to the home player/players club for consideration, along with a full list of scores for that competition.
- Trophies will be presented (including runners up) at the LDRGA annual dinners. All winners are expected to attend the dinner to receive their trophies.

- All member clubs will be placed in one of three divisions.

The named official will be listed in the contacts section of the LDRGA website.
- The schedule of fixtures and dates by which all fixtures shall be played will be displayed on the LDRGA website.
- Matches will be played on a home and away basis, against all other clubs in their division, as laid out in rule 4 (LDRGA 2 man league rules).

Strokes will be taken against the lowest handicapped player to reflect the difference in handicap at 90% of the individuals handicap.
- If a team fails to turn up for a match at the agreed time and date, then that team shall be deemed to have lost the match by a score of 5&4.
- Officials of BOTH CLUBS are required to notify the result to the competition secretary or his designated representative on or before the closing date for that round of matches. If the fixture is not fulfilled or no result is received by the closing date of that round of matches then the fixture will be deemed to have not been played and Both clubs will receive 0 points.
- If the match has started but for any reason can not be finished (even allowing for rule 11, LDRGA general competition rules) then the result and allocation of points will be decided by the competition secretary/sub rules committee.
- Divisional status will be determined at the end of each season with the top two teams being promoted and the bottom two teams being relegated. If a new club joins the association then the competition secretary/sub rules committee my make alternative arrangements regarding promotion and relegation for that season.
- In the event of a tied league points position between two or more clubs, then the +/- aggregate total will come into play, if still equal then the head to head results between the relevant clubs will determine the final league positions. If still equal, the better away record of the clubs will take precedence.
- The Executive Committee of the LDRGA has authorised the competition secretary/sub rules committee to adjudicate in the event of a dispute or in the interpretation of any rules. The competition secretary/sub rules committee decision will be final.
